Configuring Microsoft Outlook 97
Microsoft Outlook is an e-mail program which is included in MS Office 97.
Configuring the software will be easy when you follow our step by step guide
here.
Step One
Load Outlook by clicking on your Windows 95 Start button, clicking on
Programs and selecting Microsoft Outlook from the list of programs. When it
is finished loading click to where it says Tools and select Services as
shown in the diagram above. This will bring up Outlook's configuration
settings as displayed below.
Step Two
Make sure you have Internet Mail highlighted as in the diagram above (if it
does not appear as an option, you will need to add it in using the Add...
button.) Once this is done, click onto the button labelled 'Properties'.
This section is fairly straight forward. First, enter your name into the
Full Name section, then enter your email address into the Email Address
section. For the Internet Mail Server enter in mail.visp.com.au Now
you need to enter your VISP Username and password. Once you have filled in
your settings, click on the button Message Format and ensure you have a tick
in the 'Use MIME when sending messages' then click 'Ok'.
Step Three
Now click on the button 'Advanced Options'. In this window, enter in
the setting mail.visp.com.au then once complete, press 'Ok'.
If you need help in using Outlook you will need to refer to your user manual
(which should be included with MS Office) or alternatively use the online
help clicking on the Help pull down menu within Microsoft Outlook.
Step Four
Click on the TAB labelled 'Connection'. In this window, select
'Connect using the modem', and select 'VISP' in the box labelled
'Dial using the following connection'. If you cannot find an option
called VISP, just select the entry which relates to your Internet Account
with VISP Network Access. You can now click 'Ok' as the configuration
is complete.
