Microsoft Windows 98 comes with a Internet Setup Wizard that easily allows you to configure your computer for internet access. This setup guide allows you to configure your computer to access Voca ISP (VISP) using Windows 98.

When you start the Microsoft Internet Connection Wizard in Windows 98, you will be greeted with a screen. You need to select: 'I have an existing Internet account through my phone line or a local area network (LAN). Help me set up my computer to connect to this Internet account.' and then press the 'Next' button.

On the window that appears next, select 'Select this option if you are accessing the Internet using an Internet service provider or a local area network (LAN)'. then press the 'Next' button.

This window that now appears allows you to select how you connect to the internet. You need to select 'Connect using my phone line'. Now you need to press the 'Next' button once you have done this.

Now you will be asked if you wish to create a new dial up account or use an existing one. Since you don't have a Voca ISP (VISP) connection, you need to select 'Create a new dial-up connection' and then press the 'Next' button.

The next window now asks for you to enter in the dial up telephone number. First, click on 'Dial using the area code an country code' so that it is NOT ticked. Then enter in the number P xxxx xxxx into the 'Telephone number' field. Now once again press the 'Next' button.

Now it asks for your username and password. Enter in your VISP Username into the field labeled 'Username'. Your username is the part of your email address before the @ symbol. For example, if your email address with VISP is jane@visp.com.au your username is jane. Also enter in your password into the 'Password' field then press 'Next'.

You will now be asked if you want to change the Advanced Settings for this connection. You need to click on 'Yes' then press the 'Next' button to modify these.

It now will ask for a connection type. On this window, select the option 'PPP (Point to Point Protocol)' and then press 'Next'.

Next comes up a screen asking for your log on procedure. VISP have implemented it so that you can click on the option 'I don't need to type anything when logging on' and use this method. Once you have done that, press 'Next'.

It will now prompt about IP addresses. On this window, select 'My Internet provider automatically assigns me one'. then press the 'Next' button again. It may ask your if you wish to configure certain programs, if so, select 'No' then press 'Next'.

You will now be asked for DNS settings. On this screen, select the option 'Always use the following:' by clicking on it, then enter in the following:

DNS Server: 202.61.170.13   Now press the 'Next' button.

Now you will be asked to name your connection, in the box 'Connection name:' enter in 'VISP' then press 'Next'.

Your internet dial-up connection to VISP is now all done! Simply press the 'Finish' button to close the Internet Connection Wizard
